About Asakuchi
The city of Asakuchi consists of three towns, Konko, Kamogata and Yorishima. These three towns were united on the 21st of March 2006 to form the city of Asakuchi. The city is located south west of the Okayama prefecture and it is an area rich in nature, adjacent to the Seto inland sea.

Asakuchi is surrounded by Satosho town, Kurashiki city, Kasaoka city and Yakage town. The Sanyo express way, national highway no. 2, JR Sanyo mainline, Sanyo shinkansen and other basic transportation axis pass through this region. The terrain is diverse, from the northern Youshouzan mountain range, to the southern Seto inland sea.

The emblem is a combination of the city name "Asakuchi", using "A" and "SA". The green color represents the abundant nature in Asakuchi.

On the 10th anniversary of the formation of Asakuchi, the local council chose three aspects of the local nature to become symbols of the city. They chose cherry blossom trees, of which there are many, oysters which are a local delicacy and the star called "sirius" which can be seen in the skies above Asakuchi.
